Short answer: no. Please don't use 'drag and drop' templates.

What's a 'drag and drop' template?

Usually referred to as just "templates", these consist of After Effects projects downloaded from a website.

Within these templates, there are compositions which create premium VFX, transitions, text animations etc.

All you have to do to use a 'drag and drop' template is literally drag and drop footage into a pre-set composition. That's it. It takes seconds.

That sounds great! Why can't we use them?

They are great, and there are some wonderful templates out there. You just can't use them with Vidsy. We work in a unique way and we need all your After Effects files to be original and completely editable in case we need to make amends with the brand.

Here are a few reasons why you can't use 'drag and drop' templates with Vidsy:

  • Some templates make editing incredibly difficult, especially if we need to switch the format. If a brand requests an amend, our in-house creative team need to be able to make the change quickly and easily. We often have to re-build videos from scratch if a 'drag and drop' template has been used.

  • Vidsy's strength is our ability to deliver a wide range of creative routes. 'Drag and drop' templates often make different videos look and feel incredibly similar.

  • Some templates have complex licensing issues. For legal reasons, we need to avoid using any templates, plugins etc. sourced from a third party.
