Short answer: no. Please don't use 'drag and drop' templates.
What are “drag and drop” templates?
They’re pre-made After Effects projects (usually downloaded online) that already include things like transitions, text animations, and VFX.
Inside these templates, everything is pre-built into compositions. You simply drop your footage into place and the video is basically done in seconds.
Sounds handy, right? 😅
That sounds great! Why can't we use them?
While they’re great tools, they don’t work for how we operate at Vidsy. We need all After Effects projects to be fully original and completely editable so we can make changes quickly if a brand requests edits.
Here’s why they’re not allowed:
Hard to edit later 🔧
If a brand requests changes (like resizing or swapping content), templates can make this tricky. In some cases, we’d need to rebuild the video from scratch.Limits creative variety 🎬
One of Vidsy’s strengths is producing a wide range of unique creative. Templates often result in videos looking and feeling too similar.Licensing concerns ⚖️
Many templates come from third-party sources with unclear or restrictive usage rights, which we need to avoid.
So while templates can be useful elsewhere, for Vidsy briefs we always need fully original AE builds 🙌
