AI and your submissions: what we ask and why 🦾✏️

No AI, no ambiguity.

Written by Yoko Hargreaves

AI tools are becoming an increasingly mainstream part of content creation. At the same time, new legislation is beginning to shape how AI-generated and AI-assisted content can be used - such as the EU AI Act.

To help us prepare for these changes, we need a clearer picture of how creators use AI today. This also enables us to be completely transparent with our clients about how their content has been produced.

What counts as AI?

For context, here's what we mean when we ask about AI use:

  • AI-generated or AI-edited video: AI-generated backgrounds, objects, or scenes.

  • AI images: Anything generated as an overlay, insert, or background.

  • AI voiceovers: Synthetic voices or AI voice cloning.

  • AI music or SFX: Audio generated via tools like Suno, Udio, or similar.

  • AI face or body effects: Generative filters for skin smoothing, ageing, hairstyle changes, or face swaps.

  • Generative AI features inside apps like CapCut: Anything that sits under an "AI media" or similar tool category.

What you’ll see when you upload

When submitting content, you’ll be asked:

Did you use AI in this content?

If you answer yes, we’ll ask which tool(s) you used and what you used them for.

💡 Please tell us about any AI use, whether it played a small or significant role in creating the content. If you’re unsure, it’s best to answer yes and provide a little more detail.

Why we ask

The information you provide helps us:

  • Understand how AI is being used across our creator community.

  • Prepare for new legislation and guidance as they develop.

  • Give clients accurate information about how their content was produced.

  • Adapt our briefs and processes where future requirements make that necessary.

This isn’t about catching anyone out, and you’re not being asked to interpret legislation yourself. We simply need an accurate understanding of the tools involved in producing each submission.

If AI rules affect a brief

If legislation or other requirements affect how AI can be used on a particular brief, we’ll explain this clearly in the brief itself.

The brief will tell you explicitly if AI use is not allowed, if only certain uses are permitted, or if there are any additional requirements you need to follow. You won’t have to make your own judgement about what is or isn’t allowed - just follow the guidance provided in the brief.

If you have any questions about AI and your submissions, please get in touch with the team at community@vidsy.co.
