We know paperwork isn't the fun part. But this one's quick, and it's the key to making sure you receive payment without a hitch.
What's a W-9?
A W-9 is a standard IRS form, used to provide your correct Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) to confirm who you are for tax purposes.
Why does Vidsy need it?
Vidsy is required to collect a W-9 form for every creator we worked with in a tax year who earned more than $600 USD. This is a legal requirement, not just a Vidsy thing.
Once we have your W-9, our accountants use it to issue you a 1099-NEC form, a physical document you'll receive in the mail that you'll use when filing your own tax return in March or April.
How to submit your W-9
Your W-9 is what unlocks your payment. We can't release your earnings until we have one on file.
Here's what the process looks like:
After your campaign wraps, you'll get an email from Vidsy with a Dropbox link to submit your W-9.
If we haven't heard from you, we'll send two follow-up reminders so your payment doesn't stay on hold.
Download the W-9 form from the IRS, fill it in with your legal name, address, and TIN, sign it, and upload it via the Dropbox link in your email.
That's it! We handle the rest.
What happens after you send it?
Once you've uploaded your W-9, our team will pick it up and confirm we've received it. We'll let you know your payment is being set up in our next payment run. And the best bit? Now that we have your W-9 on file, there'll be no delays on future payments either.
What happens if it's not submitted?
We're unable to release your payment until a valid W-9 is on file. This is a legal requirement we can't work around, even for completed campaigns. Nobody wants delays, so getting your W-9 in early means you get paid on time, every time. đ¸
