💡Introduction

The Vidsy SocialText Toolkit is an extension for After Effects that helps create native looking text for platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.
It automates the process of creating text with adaptive strokes or dynamic boxes in social media safe fonts.

💾 Installation

Installing the Vidsy SocialText Toolkit is simple.

  1. If you don’t already have one, download a ZXP installer. For example, this one.

  2. Follow your ZXP installer’s instructions on how to install a zxp file.

  3. Restart After Effects.

  4. The Vidsy SocialText Toolkit can now be launched from Window > Extensions.

Note: Make sure to also install the required fonts included with the download.

📚 User Guide

The Vidsy SocialText Toolkit is very simple to use.

  1. Type or paste the text you want to create in the text input.

  2. Select between one of three font options, each with bold, italic & bold-italic variations:

    1. Sans Serif

    2. Serif

    3. Monospace

  3. Select one of the three styles:

    1. Plain Text

    2. Stroked Text

    3. Boxed Text

  4. Click Create Text.

A text layer (and shape layer if a box style has been selected) matching the look you defined, will be created at the playhead on your timeline.

Text-box layers are parented to their accompanying text layer and will dynamically fit the shape of the text, even across multiple lines.

When adjusting size of any generated text, it’s better to use the layer’s transform: scale property as opposed to the Character font size. This ensures that the text scales up and down accurately allowing any boxes/strokes to scale fluidly.
